Hiking Tour, Stockholm Archipelago Trail – Nåttarö, one day
Spend a day in Stockholm’s most unique & unspoiled nature: together we discover the Stockholm Archipelago! By mixing the best parts of the famous Stockholm Archipelago Trail with our own secret off-trail sections, we discover the very best of Nåttarö. This is where the Baltic Sea meets the granite cliffs & wild forest.
This hike takes us into the Stockholm archipelago — a world of ferry rides, winding island trails and smooth granite rocks shaped by ice and water over thousands and thousands of years. We cover parts of the famous Stockholm Archipelago Trail, but take you off-trail as well to find those truly hidden gems, secluded & pristine. We take the ferry and leave mainland behind little by little. Buildings become islands, islands become smaller islands until we get to the destination of the day: Nåttarö. We travel through landscapes where red cottages occasionally appear between the trees, boats drift by in the distance and the sea always seems to find its way back into view. Getting there is part of the day itself.

About the hike
The Stockholm Archipelago Trail: we will cover the best parts of the Stockholm Archipelago Trail, Nåttarö section. This famous through-hike is a fantastic way to see the Archipelago, and it is conveniently divided up in day sections. And if you (only) have an entire day to spend, we strongly believe that Nåttarö is the best choice: it is part of the outer archipelago, making the landscapes more spectacular. Many islands closer inland have more of a mainland-feel to them, where as Nåttarö shows off those ancient cliffs and wild overall feel. Making most of van transport and taking in the duration of ferries, Nåttarö is your best bet.
But we won't follow it blindly: the best parts of Nåttarö are found off-path, and are not part of the Stockholm Archipelago Trail. And taking you to hidden gems is what our guides are great at! As a bonus you will learn how to navigate in the wild, with & without compass, and learn other key skills about nature and the local flora & fauna.
The scenery: we follow trails across island landscapes where forests meet open coastlines, and narrow paths lead over smooth rocks and along the water. Sometimes we hike along the coast. But we don't stick to the trails. Oh no. The wildest part of the Archipelago is found when you go off them. We will show you secluded scenery without other tourists as from a post card! Along the way your guide shares stories about the archipelago, Swedish outdoor culture and life on these islands. The Stockholm archipelago consists of around 30,000 islands, skerries and rocks. We stop for a Swedish outdoor lunch and coffee break surrounded by nature. There is time to sit on the rocks, watch boats pass by, explore a little or simply enjoy doing very little for a moment — a Scandinavian specialty. During warmer months there is also time for a swim. Baltic Sea water has a way of making people feel very awake and very alive at exactly the same time.
