6 Day Winter Break Sweden

But to be honest, this barely is a holiday . . .

You don’t get to sleep in, you don’t get to be lazy, and you don’t get to drink cocktails on the beach. Instead, you’ll be cross country skiing through the mountains, ice skating between hotels over the Baltic Sea, and off-piste skiing after climbing a mountain on snowshoes. Sounds good? Read on!

Program

Day 1 – ”Ice Skating Paradise”
What better place to start our ultimate winter adventure than the capital of Scandinavia, Stockholm. Stockholm is home to some of the best natural ice skating conditions worldwide. So guess what we’ll be doing there? Right. Ice skating. And lots of it! Together with a local guide and Pieter Dingemans, founder of The Green Trails, who will be with you during the entire trip. We strap on our ice skates and, why not, if we get lucky may even make a loop over the Baltic Sea. This is The Green Trails most popular day trip during winter time! After lunch we start skating towards our hotel for the night.

Day 2 – Heading North. . .
Rise and shine for yet another day full of adventure. After breakfast we hit the ice again. We skate between islands and past high cliffs, until it’s time for lunch. After lunch we start heading up North. Halfway there  we stop for a viewpoint hike, during which we will have a far stretched view over the snow-covered valley and distant mountains. We hike up using snowshoes. Later, arriving to our accommodation, we meet Kjelle and Annika, our hosts for the next coming days.

Day 3 – Off-piste with a night in a mountain cabin
After breakfast we gear up and head out. But po prepared pistes, lifts or ski cards on this trip. Time for some off-piste skiing! We hike up and enjoy powder snow as far as the eye can see. And no other people to have to share it with! Is that winter paradise or what? We spend the night in a cabin in the mountains.

Day 4 – Coming down
Waking up in the mountains there’s just one thing in your mind. Get out in the snow again! More off-piste action will take you down between the trees and back to the mountain station where we started off at, just in time for dinner.

Day 5 – Cross Country
Enough of alpine? Good. Today we’re trying out cross country skiing! We’ll be using touring ski’s and make our own tracks. Follow in the footsteps of the fugitive king Gustav of Sweden and glide through the mountains with views stretching far out over lakes and the Norwegian border. We will make sure to cross it too, knocking Norway of your bucket list.

Day 6 – Roadtrip!
The last day of our adventure together. Road trip! We’ll make several stops at natural and cultural sights along the way. Around the evening we will be back in Stockholm. Feeling bliss for all of our new memories of the past days we say our goodbyes.
